As a travel blogger, the brand I get asked about most often is probably Away. It’s true that I’ve shared reviews of their products extensively over the years, from their hard-sided carry-on suitcase to helpful packing cubes to a beautiful and functional personal item. On the whole, I’ve found that their products are well-crafted, thoughtfully designed, and durable for the long haul, and my cost per use is drastically low.

I get it, really, I do. I’ve been there, waiting until I had the need for something, buying the cheap or convenient option out of desperation, and facing the consequences of having to purchase a replacement later.
At some point over the years, I realized I could get ahead of this cycle without overpaying by keeping a wish list and purchasing items whenever I saw them go on sale. It’s always a bit of a gamble, of course (will it go on sale for a lower price later?), but on the whole, it means I rarely have to scramble to buy something at the last minute.

As usual, I’m in the “if you don’t need it, don’t buy it” camp, but if an Away piece has been on your list for holiday gifting or holiday travel, I have a pretty good feeling this is the best time to buy in 2024.
