Happy weekend Monday! I spent the weekend staying with my grandparents and helping them with some tasks, and boy, do they know how to put someone to work – which means things over here were put on the back burner.

But I’m back! And with a trip on the horizon. In two weeks Michael and I will fly to Boston for a mini-New England road trip (yes, at the worst possible time of the year). We decided to base ourselves in New Haven, Connecticut; Providence, Rhode Island; and Boston, Massachusetts (and yes, we’ve been to two of those places already). We’ve booked our flights and our first Airbnb, but we have lots to plan in the coming days. If you have any favorite sights, restaurants, and coffee houses, please do share!

Other than being too busy to pay attention to what day it is, here’s a roundup of interesting links I found this last week:

Travel

Why it’s important to have a credit card with good rental car benefits (and stay on top of things!).

I always love reading David Lebovitz’s travel diaries. Here’s part one and part two from his recent trip to Vietnam.

I would brave the cold for this.

Low-cost carrier Allegiant announced a few new cities and routes. Is your town on the list?

And, just in case you’re going to Louisville any time soon…

Food

Why eggs are refrigerated in the U.S., but not anywhere else. The first time I saw eggs on the shelf of a grocery store it freaked me out. But now I’m way more nervous about eating eggs here in the States.

If you’re in the L.A. area, please eat all of this for me, okay?

The best chocolate chip cookies, ranked.

We’re studying this guide to New Haven pizza apizza and I’m pretty sure we’re going to get an A.

Outdated? Over-done? I don’t care. We recently made these lava cakes and they were everything I hoped for and then some.

Life & Style

It’s been a while since I found a pair of shoes at M. Gemi to fawn over, but these flats are definitely doing it for me.

Cuyana sucked me in with the first sentence, “When in doubt, opt for black.” Is monochrome dressing for you?

Who is your The Good Place MBTI match? Apparently, my personality type is the same as Mindy St. Claire. I’m not sure how I feel about that…

Here’s why you like your S’well so much.

Have you boarded the PopSocket train? I haven’t succumbed to the trend, but this is an interesting look at how the business started and how they’re taking down lookalikes.

These days, I mostly alternate between loose, flowy comfy clothes and slimmer, tailored-fitting garments because I enjoy the freedom of choosing to wear garments that are “traditionally flattering” or not. For those days when I’m leaning toward a slimmer fit, Jamie-Lee’s tips for dressing to look taller and slimmer are very thorough and helpful.

Everlane just released their Carpenter Pants. What are your thoughts on this style making its way back around?

Things I bought this week

Hooray, a light(er) spending week! I’ve noticed that with a trip on the horizon, my spending drops dramatically.

This week I ordered the Garment Sleeve from Away to review for you here using referral credits (thank you for supporting wayward!). I look forward to testing it out over our next few trips and seeing how it fits within the bag’s center area. I also picked up a gorgeous raw silk top secondhand (linked to similar). I love the diamond stitching at the shoulders as well as the bracelet sleeve length; however, I think I will go ahead and put a moratorium on adding any additional black silk tops to my wardrobe. You’ll help keep me accountable, right?

We’d love your recommendations for anywhere to go/eat/drink/wander in Boston, Providence, and New Haven – and anywhere in between!
