¡Hola de Mexico!
Michael and I are taking advantage of the long weekend here in Mexico City. Does it seem like too much hassle to leave the country just for a weekend? We’ve only done it once before (and that was back before we signed up for Global Entry!) on a visit to Aruba, but I really don’t think it’s much more trouble than traveling domestically within the U.S. (Live in Europe or near a border? Chances are you likely have it even easier!).
Our flight clocks in at around 2-1/2 hours, but it’s a direct flight, making it pretty reasonable for a three-day trip.

I spent a fair amount of my time online this week, refreshing the booking site of Pujol over and over in hopes of snagging a reservation with no such luck (edit: I did the dang thing, but on my next visit to CDMX). Other than that, here’s what I’ve been reading over the past few days:
Travel
As I spend more and more time in airports each year, I’m so grateful to have healthier snacks and meal options (gifted NYT article).
Ever look at the people around you in passport control and wonder why everyone’s passport is a different color? Here’s why.
This is a topic we’re already in the process of writing about in more detail, but here’s a quick article on protecting your digital self when traveling (gifted NYT article).

Life
Apparently, Whole Foods is stealing customers from Trader Joe’s. While I occasionally fantasize about shopping exclusively at Whole Foods and living the accompanying lifestyle, the realistic part of me is team TJ’s all the way. Which store do you visit most often?
Why do we forget what we read? I love to read, and yet I find myself checking out new books from the library only to realize several pages in that I’ve already read them. I do take some comfort in knowing some of this may be due to the fact that flying alters our memory.

Food
If you want to join us on vacation in spirit, here’s an amazing-looking recipe for carnitas.
I love a well-made waffle with the usual toppings (I mentioned it last week, I know!), but I love the concept of this blog.

Style
Here’s a fun roundup of white ankle boots (note: site closed), but I’m admiring these from afar since 1) they match my skin tone and 2) I can’t keep anything clean much like a small toddler.
Lots of great releases and sales this week, and likely more to come with it being a long weekend here in the U.S. I’ve been eyeing things over at Only Child (edit: now closed), Cuyana (new silks), and Tradlands (sale!).
Things I bought this week
Breathing a little easier with fewer purchases made this week (ahhhh).
I figured since my Rains coat from last week is delayed I might as well order another option. I’ve had my eye on Stutterheim coats for a while, and when I saw they released a lighter, more packable version of the Stockholm coat, I jumped on it. Both rain jackets arrive Tuesday; chances are I will be doing a mini try-on over on Instagram Stories.
I also ordered a super gorgeous hair pin from Favor Jewelry; I own one of their rings and wear it often, so I know the quality will be good. I look forward to having an artsy way to pull my hair back when we travel.
I also had to order a new eyeshadow palette (similar) for travel, as the one I mentioned in my travel makeup routine post dropped to the ground and broke. I took the opportunity to try something new, and after testing out the colors yesterday, feel like these are more pigmented.
Are you taking advantage of the long weekend, if it is a holiday where you live? Where are you headed?
¡Hasta Jueves!
