I’m freaking out that it’s November. Are you freaking out that it’s November?
We’ve had quite the pleasant week here this week, with beautiful weather and fun festivities. We formulated our Halloween plans at the very last minute, and went to see a spooky play and enjoyed dinner at one of our local favorites. We don’t typically do that kind of thing in an effort to save money for travel, so it was an extra-special treat.
We finally finished a few shows and movies this week that you’ve probably already seen (we don’t like to watch more than an episode of something in a night, and we usually save movies for the occasional lazy weekend – which means we’re always the last to watch something): Killing Eve was fantastic, and I can’t wait to see where season two goes; the second season of Big Mouth was cringey in all the best, funny, most-heart-warming of ways; and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before brought me right back to high school (although the supposedly “uncool” main character was way cooler than I was at that age, and whose high school looks like that?). Anyway, here’s what else I’ve been consuming online this week:

Travel & Life
Here are some good financial tips for someone in their early twenties. Even though I’m about to exit my twenties, a lot of these apply to me (particularly: investing). What is one good piece of financial advice you’d give to your younger self?
The first of two New York Times articles I’m linking to this week really makes me want to visit Norway’s capital city again: 36 Hours in Oslo.
I was saddened by the photos I received this week from a reader vacationing in Venice, where flooding is causing major issues. She made the most of her time in the city, but ultimately, I fear for the future of one of Italy’s most-famous cities.

Food & Drink
I’ve just realized that I have all of the ingredients in my kitchen to make champurrado, which we recently enjoyed in Mexico City. This might be a dangerous thing!
Would you go to the Disgusting Food Museum?

Has anyone tried Glossier’s Solution? I’ve read mixed reviews and would love feedback! Right now they are offering a discount on the bundle of Solution and Super Bounce, which I do like…
Talia wrote a brilliant piece about desire and envy over one particular blazer. Definitely worth a read!
Cuyana just released a new vanity case set (somewhat of an update on their travel set, which I reviewed here). I’m not in the market for a set at the moment, since mine is still going strong, but I can definitely see some benefits from the updated design.
Could you get away with wearing only eleven items for a month?
Things I bought this week
The shopping itch is back, and I’m really trying to be picky about giving in. I’ve got a mental wish-list of things I want for my closet, and I’m really focusing on just buying items that tick the boxes on that list. My current white tee is starting to get dingy, so I decided to try one of Everlane’s men’s shirts (the women’s crew neck is thinner than I would like). I would like to find a shirt that is somewhere between relaxed and fitted, with a touch of structure. Michael swears by these shirts; I’m just hoping the XS isn’t too big. I’ve been preferring slightly-oversized sweaters lately, so I also ordered one of their Alpaca sweaters in charcoal (to be honest, I’m not quite sure how I ordeed it, as the site says it won’t be released until November 5). At some point this season I’d also like to add a relaxed ivory sweater to my wardrobe, but I haven’t decided which one yet. After that, I’m done with sweaters for a bit. The last thing I ordered this week was a Christmas gift from Wool and the Gang for my little sister. Spreading these purchases out over the course of the next two months will certainly make things a little easier on the wallet.
Do you tend to order your holiday gifts early, or do you buy them all in one go?
For the folks in the latter category, we’ll start rolling out gift guides in a few weeks! See you Monday for our final post on the Netherlands!
