Happy Weekend!
This weekend Michael and I are doing a bit of travel planning and booking (yay!). It has been weird to go so many months without a destination to plan for (though my time online has at least been geared toward finding links like the ones below!).
This post contains affiliate links and I may receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking one of these links (at no additional cost to you!). Thank you for your support - it enables me to run this site ad-free!
I also hope to share a quick house tour over in Instagram Stories sometime this weekend, if you’re into that kind of thing.
And if you’re not, here are some other things you may find interesting from around the web:
Travel
“The best coffee around the world.” Do you agree?
Retro motels are making a comeback for a younger generation.
Long-overdue changes are coming to MoMA.
Key West is banning sunscreens that aren’t reef-safe. I wholeheartedly applaud this effort, but I’m still struggling to find a reef-safe sunscreen that I like. Any suggestions?

Life
Lately, we’ve been queuing up podcasts whenever we take a drive longer than 30 minutes. This week we started The Dream after reading a few recommendations for it online. It’s a fascinating look into the world of MLMs. We’re in the early episodes still, but I highly recommend it so far!
Has anyone tried Public Goods? I’ve read some mixed reviews (mostly about the advertisement stating that products are sold “at cost”) but am intrigued by some of their products like larger refill sizes and more sustainable alternatives to household sponges and trash bags.
Keeping things that spark rage.
Lee just performed a full overhaul on her blog, and it’s a good reminder that I have some housekeeping to do here. Do you have any time I can borrow??
I’m working my way through a bottle of pillow spray, but this one sounds dreamy, too (sorry – I had to!).
Is not wanting something just as good as having it?
Need a laugh? This thread about Peloton is amazing.

Food
This gives new meaning to stopping for a fill-up.
A Zero-Waste fine dining experience.
Tips for making great carbonara (or, you know, you can use my recipe!).
Have you made The Stew (gifted recipe) yet? It does look really delicious, and we typically keep all of those ingredients in our house at all times. It’s tempting!

Style
I’ve received over $100 in cash back since joining Jewel (now closed) towards the end of last year. The site pays you back a percentage of the cost of your purchase from places like Everlane, Barneys, Glossier, Madewell, etc. – without you paying a cent more than you were already spending. Pretty neat, huh?
I’m not surprised that this is a thing.
Tradlands is starting a new rewards program; here’s $15 off your first purchase, if you’re interested!
Sale alert! Alice and Whittles now Thesus is offering 10% off sitewide for Valentine’s Day (including my favorite rain boots!).
Would you wear fake freckles? After being teased for having them as a child, it’s strange to me that people will pay for them!
I was very tempted to pick up this ADAY tank on sale, but I resisted. Someone else get it so I can live vicariously?
I’m swooning over all of the dreamy linen pieces from this Etsy shop.
Cuyana released a short behind-the-scenes look at their alpaca products’ origins. The alpacas are so cute!
Things I bought this week
As you can probably tell from the lineup of photos, Michael and I are working to reduce our plastic consumption and waste output (and yep – fully aware that one of the items above is made of plastic). To be clear, I don’t think that throwing away the things you own and replacing them with “eco-alternatives” is the smartest approach. However, as our plastic items deteriorate and as our stock of single-use items depletes, I’m actively seeking replacements that will last (or have a more responsible end-of-life) and are aesthetically pleasing.
From our local ZW store, I picked up a straw brush (linked to similar) made of coconut bristles rather than nylon ones. They also carried this wooden holder from Marley’s Monsters that I’ve had my eye on for a long time, and it’s a much better way of storing my facial rounds. I placed my first order at the Package Free Shop this week and ordered the jars with tare weights I mentioned in my last post and these mini food containers for holding condiments and dressings. We lost an ice pack this week due to breakage and chose to replace it with this small stainless steel ice pack.
Clothes-wise, I picked up these silk pants from Grana to wear as lounge wear around the house, and the Perfect Summer Jean from Madewell. Once I find a pair of white jeans that works for me, my denim-buying days will be over for a while. Finally, I picked up this Aesop body wash since I’m nearing the end of my current stuff. And for the sake of transparency – I plan on refilling the container when empty, even if it’s with something else!
