Happy Weekend!
Michael and I are home this weekend, and it is glorious. We’re spending some time working around the house on things that were neglected while we were away recently.
April is a busy month for birthdays in our social circle, and we’re celebrating two friends’ birthdays over the weekend as well. This is my ideal balance for a weekend at home: a little productivity, a little relaxation, and a little socializing. If one gets thrown off, I find I have a tougher time returning to work Monday morning.

In other news – we booked another one-day trip! Frontier held their penny fare sale this week (that is, the fare price is $0.01 + taxes and fees), and flights started at just under $15 one-way. I searched to see what routes were available at that price and found a round-trip flight to Lafayette, Louisiana, for just $28.62. It heads out early on a Saturday morning and returns that evening.
Because it’s a one-day trip and a short flight, we won’t need to pay for lodging, luggage, seats, or snacks – our only costs will include airport parking, meals, and ground transportation once we arrive. Would Lafayette be my first choice for a weekend away? Maybe not. But I’m happy to take every chance I can afford to explore my home country.
Other than learning more about Acadian culture, here’s what I’ve found online this week:
Travel
Here’s a roundup of the ten best rooftop bars. Where is your favorite place to get a birdseye view of your city?
Andrea shares four ways to be more ecologically minded while you travel. I love her tip to use trains rather than planes when possible – it’s my favorite way to travel within Europe for sure!
Is your ID card ready to fly? If you live in the U.S. and your state is not REAL ID compliant, you’ll soon need a passport to fly domestically.
We only spent one night in Bergen, Norway several years ago, and it wasn’t enough. This roundup of five places to go in Norway’s second city makes me yearn to return!
Did you know? You can find all of my packing lists in one place: on Pinterest.

Life & Home
How cute are these stained glass cacti and succulents? I like them better than the look of fake plants, and I love the fact that I wouldn’t kill them!
Some stories take a sharp turn.
This time last year on Wayward: a one-year blogging check-in and an unforgettable experience.

Food
Jacques Pepin’s French omelette has been the inspiration for a few easy weeknight dinners over the past few weeks (you might have even seen my mediocre attempts in my Instagram stories); I’m glad I’m not the only one with an obsession over the ease and cheery vibes presented in his now-famous omelette tutorial.
Oh, no. I have all of the ingredients in my home to make these and that is a very bad thing.
Eater has published a number of good-reads this week: There’s an interview with the creators of Netflix’s new show Street Food (I haven’t watched it yet but we’ve added it to the queue!), a closer look at grocery store fandom, and an ultra-compilation of articles about Mexican food in the U.S.
Geraldine won a James Beard Award for her essay on Mario Batali’s sexual misconduct apology cinnamon buns. If you haven’t read it before, it’s definitely worth a read.

Style
Fashion Revolution Week may be ending tomorrow, but it’s never too late to demand that brands do better. The organization has made it easy to ask brands #whomademyclothes with a pre-formatted email you can fill in and send.
And while you’re at it, here’s a list of what all of those ethical/sustainable certifications mean.
I’m digging this Etsy shop with unisex clothing that isn’t just watered-down menswear.
I won’t go on about Everlane’s launch of Tread, because literally every other blogger already has. But I am curious: what do you make of these shoes and their sustainability claims?
Things I bought this week
1. Gold Stacking Ring, Ringcrush | 2. Raw Emerald Earrings, Ringcrush
3. Columba Earrings, Hey Moon Designs | 4. Raw Amethyst Earrings, Ringcrush
Wow, that’s a lot of jewelry (but only half of it is for me!).
I placed an order with Atlanta-based Ringcrush this week for my mom’s May birthday (hence, the emerald earrings) and my stepmom’s Mother’s Day gift (the amethyst earrings). They arrived yesterday, and I can’t believe I have to wait two weeks to give them their gifts. The earrings are simple yet stunning in their organic form.
Ringcrush offers a discount on 3+ items, so it was a no-brainer to throw in this simple gold stacking ring. I own the same ring in rose gold and sterling silver, and the value really can’t be beat. I suppose I was still riding the high of my last statement earring purchase because I also ordered these earrings from Hey Moon Designs. They haven’t arrived yet, but I bet they’ll be just as beautiful as past pieces I’ve ordered.
Looking ahead, I plan on placing an order for this linen skirt once the shop reopens on Monday morning to beef up my warm-weather clothing and a secondhand black silk bomber (I’m still deciding which one!) as an alternative to a blazer for work days.
What is the lowest price you’ve paid for a plane ticket (with/without using rewards or points)?
