The week is halfway over and the Fall 10 x 10 is three-quarters done!
I wouldn’t say I’m feeling stifled with my choices, but I’m feeling a little antsy for some of my more fall-like items like boots and tights and my leather jacket. I don’t want to jinx it, but they are saying we might have lows in the forties next week!

Even if it stays warm, I’m definitely looking forward to our NYC trip in a few weeks, where the weather should be much more autumny.
But back to today, Day 8:
Today turned out to be a busier day than expected; I had a meeting with my division and then we had a Sustainability event for our students, followed by putting out a few fires (as one does!).
After work, I came home to unpack from my day and immediately turned around to head for the gym (kickboxing and then Zumba). We rarely go out during the week, instead opting to spend time in together. Eating in helps save money, and spending time at home really recharges our batteries for the next day.

I probably would never have worn this top over a dress before the challenge, but I actually think the top is easier to wear this way than with pants. In these photos, the color of the top and the dress look more distinct, but in “real life” I feel like you can’t really tell the difference.
I wrapped this top higher than I did with pants so that it would hit me at my natural waist which is a little more comfortable when worn here than at my hips. The snap continues to come unsnapped, so just before heading out the door, I removed the front-facing piece of metal.
Since the sleeves add so much volume, I kept the rest of the outfit incredibly simple and minimal, with thin silver jewelry and my daintier shoe option. This top-and-dress formula will be on repeat throughout the fall, with tights added when it gets cooler. When the temperature drops for good, though, this top would need to be packed away since the sleeves don’t fit well under a coat.

Item Spotlight: Wrap Top*
To be honest, I included this top in this challenge to see if I’m going to keep it or sell it on Poshmark. I’m actually on my second version of the top as Vetta (now closed) very kindly replaced it after the snap was loose on the first one. I still had issues with the new snap popping open at a hint of arm movement, and I have to be very careful with what I wear underneath.
My tailor suggested replacing the snap with a stitch (an inch below the snap, actually), though I’m not quite sure I would want to lose the ability to wear the V more open in a non-work setting. I tried working up the courage to ask her to place a reverse-facing button after my last visit, but I just couldn’t do it. She’s a very tough lady, that’s for sure!
I’ve also brainstormed ways to adjust it myself at the base, but I’m just not confident in my sewing skills. What does all of this mean? Sadly, I think it will be going up for sale on my Poshmark account in the next week or so. (Update: This top is no longer available, and I ended up selling it).
