We did it! We made it to the end of the Fall 10 x 10 and we made it to Friday! Is it just me, or has this week seemed exceptionally long?

Given that, let’s not make this week any longer. Here’s a look at Day 10:

Today was again a pretty normal day in the office; working with our social media and planning ahead for student events. Routine tasks always seem a little less mundane on a Friday!

After work, I planned to treat myself to a pedicure, have dinner at a small taco joint with my favorite person, and babysit (yes, I still babysit; it’s one of the reasons we’re able to travel!). Babysitting was postponed until next week, so instead I’m treating myself to a good workout and a nice night in with a glass of wine.

Tomorrow we are going out for coffee before heading to some friends’ elopement reception. Sunday should be a pretty relaxing day at home working on blog posts, figuring out what we’re going to do in NYC pretty soon, and maybe watching a movie.

This is not a new outfit for me at all – me in jeans+top+flats+blazer is a common sight on a Friday. However, I’m glad to end my 10 x 10 on a comfortable note.

Sometimes clothes exist just to help get you through the day without getting arrested. Sometimes it’s okay to toss on the same old outfit, not having to reinvent the wheel, simply because it’s something you feel good in.

One thing I don’t do very often that I’m doing here is wearing my hair up. Obviously, I’ll wear a braid or ponytail at the gym or when it’s very, very hot out, but most of the time I’m afraid to wear it up because it’s such a security blanket to hide behind.

When my hair is completely out of my face, I feel like all of my imperfections are on display, my rosacea, my uneven skin tone, and any blemishes. There’s also nowhere to hide my emotions. I’d like to wear my hair up more often, but I’m just not there yet.

Item Spotlight: Skinny Jeans*

Banana Republic Skinny Jeans

Because of my hip-to-waist ratio, finding a pair of jeans that fit is always a struggle. I have had the most success buying jeans at the Gap, so I guess it makes sense that I would find a pair at their sister store. These jeans have a lot more stretch than I prefer, and the fabric is thinner than I would like, but they’ve held up in the year and a half that I’ve owned them.

I’ve found that for me, skinny jeans do need a bit of stretch, which is why I’m still working on breaking in my high-waisted Everlane skinnies and I did not include them here. I wish these jeans had another half-inch in the rise, and they will probably start showing some wear at some point, but they’ve been the most comfortable I’ve found for long hours of traveling.
