Gifting GLDN This Holiday Season (and an exclusive discount!)

One of the perks of blogging semi-anonymously is that I can share my family’s holiday gifts in advance without spoiling the surprise. While most of my gifts this year are hand-knitted goods, practical items, or experience gifts, today I wanted to share a special gift I selected for a very special person this Christmas:

My grandmother.

I don’t get to see my Mamaw nearly as often as I’d like, thanks to the distance that is now between us, but many of my childhood summer days were spent in her home or with her on the road traveling around the Southeastern U.S. (sparking my travel bug!).

In our time together during my formative years, she taught me that it’s possible to be a strong and independent woman while stressing the importance of being polite. Upholding the traditional Southern manners of saying “yes, ma’am” and “no, sir” was ingrained in me from a young age, and I dared not miss that ever-important second word. She always has a unique solution for every problem and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty to complete a task. She seeks out things that are beautiful, but she is practical almost to a fault (a trait I inherited).

Because of this, she’s the person on my list that is the most challenging to shop for every year.

[Update for 2023: I'm so saddened to share that my grandmother passed away earlier this year, giving this set a different, though still wonderfully cherished, meaning]

GLDN has been my go-to for crowd-pleasing, reasonably-priced jewelry for years – both for myself (you’ll see them sprinkled all over this blog!) and to gift for others – and it was my first and final stop when searching for a gift for my grandmother this Christmas. Each piece is thoughtfully designed using quality metals, and no matter the size of the order, each arrives wrapped beautifully for gifting. But what to choose?

In solid gold, the heirloom pieces tempted me at first. I love the idea of sturdy, beautiful jewelry that won’t lose its luster over time – but the voice of practicality that lives in my head worried about her reaction to the cost. I also carefully considered the Mishko Pearl Bracelet, and putting in a special request to have a string of six pearls (one for each of us grandkids!). But in the end, I landed on the Endless Necklace Set: it has one arc necklace for each of us, to serve as a reminder of our bond even when we’re far apart.

About the Endless Circle Friendship Necklace Set

The Endless Necklace Set is one of GLDN’s two split-set offerings  (the other is this darling flower petal necklace) that form together to create a symbolic image while standing strong on their own. This set of two half-circles is offered in Sterling Silver, Gold Fill, and 14k Solid Gold – all in a smooth or hammered finish. With a dainty cable chain, the standard length for this necklace is an adjustable 16-18″, however as with just about all things GLDN, you can customize this aspect of your order, too.

For my grandmother’s and my matching necklaces, I chose a set of Gold Fill half-circles in a smooth finish in a slightly longer adjustable 18-20″ length. And as a special request, I asked the team at GLDN to place a Mary Oval (customized with a sweet stamped heart!) at the clasp to wear like a little secret. I’m absolutely thrilled with how it turned out.

[Update: My tough-as-nails grandmother told me she cried when she opened this gift, sharing that she counts it as one of her top three gifts ever received. She's such a gift in my life; I'm so honored to have given her just a small portion of that feeling in return.]
