We’re one-third of the way through the Spring 10×10! (Not sure what that means? Check out my last post for all the info).
The feed is filled to the brim with positivity and inspiration – it’s been my favorite part of this whole series. I’m thrilled to see so many people lifting each other up and indulging in their creative side. I’ll be sharing nine of my favorites at the end of each post!

Over here, the first three days have been pretty easy. Nothing out of the ordinary thus far, but that’s pretty typical. We’ll get into more interesting looks down the line, I imagine, but let’s jump right into the first three:
FRIDAY
Friday was a pretty standard day, as Fridays go. I woke up a few minutes late and rushed around the house to get ready, and I ended up grabbing my blazer after checking the temperature.
Unfortunately, I failed to realize that it was forecasted to rain all day and thankfully had my rain boots in my car. I changed into them at lunchtime to avoid getting my mules wet (though I did waterproof them, I’m not inclined to fully test the abilities of the product if I can help it).
After a full day of work, I ran errands – taking a dress in to get altered and taking my Sandys in to get resoled. Initially, Michael and I discussed going to an art event after going to the gym, but the rainy weather was the perfect excuse to stay in for a cozy evening at home.

Natural Linen Tee* | Blue Skinny Jeans* | Sand Nubuck Mules [save 20% with code WAYWARD20] | Crystal Necklace* | Gold Arch Earrings* | Circle Ring* | Zippered Tote*
A white tee and dark denim are a no-brainer, but the combo gets slightly elevated here with the introduction of a linen tee. I love the warmth that the mules bring to the outfit; normally I would reach for a similarly toned bag, but this large Cuyana tote is my daily work bag. I cuffed my jeans twice, but with a shorter second turn to show off the hem and keep it more relaxed. Simple gold jewelry kept the overall look nice and light – perfect for Spring.
Item Spotlight: DIY Linen Top (similar here)
I finished sewing this top about a week ago, although the fabric has been sitting next to my sewing machine since January.
This is only my third handmade top, so I am by no means an expert at crafting clothing, but I think it turned out better than my previous two. Since I don’t have the patience for working with patterns I free-handed the design. The back hem is about an inch longer than the front, and the fit is intended to be boxy. I usually prefer a slightly more cropped style in such a boxy shape, but I made this one a little longer so I’d be able to wear it to work.
The fabric is substantial, though a bit sheer; I’ll likely always wear it with a cami underneath for work, just to feel a little more covered.
SATURDAY
Saturday was pretty easygoing. I went to the gym in the morning, and we spent the afternoon wandering parts of our city we haven’t visited in a while. Eventually, we made our way downtown for Cuban drinks and French food and spent the better part of the evening engrossed in conversations about the past.

Sleeveless Shirtdress* | Sand Nubuck Mules [save 20% with code WAYWARD20] | Lapel Pin* (worn as collar pin) | Hairpin Earrings*
This is about as easy as it gets – throw on a dress and go! To “style” this dress, I buttoned it to the collar and slid a lapel pin through the collar points. Though it is a very modest look, I think this little flash of gold in an unexpected place keeps it youthful.
Typically, I would pair this dress with black shoes, but I like the warmth the mules add here. It’s funny, I still sometimes struggle with pairing black and brown tones together, but I think it works if the colors are distinct enough. The mix here feels fresh for Spring.
Item Spotlight: Sleeveless Shirtdress, Target (similar here)
I found this dress for a bargain at my local consignment shop several years back (I’m a sucker for a dress with pockets!), and it has seen me through weight fluctuations and many different occasions. It’s lightweight, and I begin to reach for it more and more frequently as the mercury rises. I like dressing it up and down, and I’ll wear it into the fall with tights underneath.
One thing I have to keep in mind, though, is that the dress is slightly sheer. I’m sure to always wear a cami underneath for work and matching undies, just in case. In the photos, I see that the top billows out a little more than I like – I think I will spend a little time at my sewing machine after the challenge is over.
SUNDAY
Sunday was even more low-key than Saturday, if that’s possible. Michael and I always try to catch CBS’ Sunday Morning when we’re home, and it’s just about the maximum length I can sit still and watch TV.
We opted to skip an Easter brunch out since we’d gone out on Saturday night and instead prepared a simple and hearty breakfast ourselves. We made our weekly trek to the grocery store, and spent the rest of the day at home reading, writing, and trip-planning, before making the last-minute decision to have dinner out (whoops). It was a lovely, quiet day.

Black Silk Tee* | Blue Skinny Jeans* | Black Leather Loafers* | Chevron Necklace* | Wayfarer Sunglasses | Triangle Earrings* | Camera Bag*
When planning my outfits I hadn’t really considered the holiday. Black isn’t the color you usually wear on Easter Sunday, so I brought a little pastel into my outfit with my J. Crew purse. This shirt is simply so easy to wear, and high-waisted jeans make it much easier since I don’t have to worry about as much midriff showing. I tied in the color of the soles of my shoes with the wooden necklace. This is an outfit I’ll be repeating until it gets too hot for jeans.
Item Spotlight: High-Rise Skinny Jeans, Gap
Jeans are always my biggest fit challenge; my hip-to-waist ratio is a little larger than how most manufacturers design their denim. If it fits in the hips, it will gape at the waist; if it fits in the waist, it will pull across my hips. Gap is one store where I am more likely to find a pair that fits in my waist and my hips, but I no longer shop there since their production practices leave a lot of room for improvement.
I stumbled on this pair in a local consignment shop when searching for a pair of grey work pants. I didn’t find pants for work, but I did leave with these jeans. They are currently much too long, so I will either hem them myself during the challenge or take them to the tailor afterward. Until then, I’ll be cuffing them or tucking the excess underneath.
