Whoosh – and another 10×10 is gone!
This one flew by for me; I’m not sure if it’s just this time of year, or if time is simply beginning to move faster. I’ll share my final thoughts on the challenge as a whole on Thursday after I’ve had a few days to mull it over.

For now, let’s take a look at the last four days, shall we?

THURSDAY
All day Thursday, I thought it was Friday. The phrase, “The days are long but the years are short” should probably be rephrased as, “The days are long but the weeks are even longer.” We’re in our busiest season right now at work, and each day is jam-packed. This usually helps speed the day along, but for some reason today the clock barely seemed to move each time I peered at it. I only wore this outfit to work; immediately after I changed into my workout clothes to head to a boot-camp class. Exhausted, I made sure to go to bed early.

Natural Linen Tee* | Sleeveless Shirtdress* | Black Leather Loafers* | Classic Wayfarer Sunglasses | Geometric Necklace | Half-Circle Ring | Open Hook Earrings*
This is a look based on one of my favorite looks from the Winter 10×10, and I’m just not sure that it works as well here. I took a little volume out of the top by tying part of the bottom hem at the front and tucking the excess in, but it still just feels bulky. I think it would look better with either a slimmer top or a slimmer dress. I probably won’t repeat this outfit, but I’m glad I gave it a shot.
Item Spotlight: Modern Loafer, Everlane (similar here)
I often get asked about these shoes (including, yes, “Are those the Angelina Jolie shoes?”), and it’s one of just a few Everlane purchases I’m really happy with. They’ve been through a lot, including two weeks in Italy, and it shows. I was disappointed within a week after purchasing because they began to crease along the toe line. I think they are finally getting to that really good broken-in place. I took my normal size, which is a bit unusual for Everlane shoes, but they stretched to mold to my foot within a month (the same cannot be said for my Modern Points). I’ve had the heels replaced already, since the beautiful cobblestone streets in Italy literally took chunks out of them, but the soles are still in great shape. I hope these will last for years to come.

FRIDAY
Finally, we made it to Friday! Fridays around the office are usually filled with excitement; staff and students alike all chatter about their weekend plans. After work, I took an easy Zumba class, and then we walked to a local pop-up vintage market. There were lots of neat objects and clothing finds, but we didn’t end up getting anything. Sometimes we shop like we’re visiting a museum – looking at and appreciating what’s there, but not taking anything home. Afterward, we grabbed dinner next door and ate outside under the stars.

Silk High-Low Tunic | Grey Blazer* | Blue Skinny Jeans* | Sand Nubuck Mules [save 20% with code WAYWARD20] | Long Chain Necklace* | Ring* | Wayfarer Sunglasses
I really wanted to style this tunic as it’s meant to be, but it just looked funny with a blazer on top (and it’s far too cold in my office to not have sleeves!). I resorted to tucking in the bottom, which still looked nice. Though there was a lot of fabric tucked into my jeans, it’s such a thin silk that it didn’t feel bulky. I’d wear this again, but I am looking forward to wearing it untucked as well.
Item Spotlight: Silk High-Low Tunic, Eileen Fisher
This was a bit of an impulse buy – I was recently at a local consignment shop looking for a pair of grey pants for work when I stumbled on this silk tank from Eileen Fisher. The shop is geared toward a college-aged audience, and it was priced at the same amount as a lot of similar H&M/Zara/Forever 21 pieces. It is a little large (I find that a lot of EF items run a size or two big), but even with the cost of alterations, an inexpensive way to try out a style I don’t often wear. The white is quite sheer and not lined; I’ll likely always wear a cami underneath. It’s also a much rougher silk than my silk crepe pieces from Everlane and Elizabeth Suzann, but I don’t really mind.
SATURDAY
I only had the chance to spend Saturday morning in this outfit, but that’s okay because I’ll probably wear it another time. We woke up pretty early and ran an errand or two before coming home so I could get ready to participate in a local festival. I hadn’t danced in front of a crowd since I was a teenager, so I was nervous. Our group managed to get the audience clapping along, which to me counts as a success!

Blush Pima Tee | Blue Skinny Jeans* | Black Leather Loafers* | Belt* | Necklace* | Triangle Earrings | Wayfarer Sunglasses
This easy weekend outfit manages to look both casual and put-together. I still have trouble pairing this blush tee with tan tones, but I wanted to push myself a little, so I added this belt and necklace. Simple jewelry and comfy shoes kept me focused on my activities for the day – attending a festival – and not on the outfit. Uncomplicated, just like I like my weekends.
Item Spotlight: Scoop Neck Tee, Cuyana
I first ordered this tee in a size small but exchanged it for an XS. I only own a couple of clothing items from Cuyana, but it seems like they run a tad big. I love the blush tone, but it’s not a color I reach for often because I worry about highlighting my skin’s redness (it’s not enough to stop me entirely, however). The fabric is soft and drapes nicely, but I worry about the modal’s tendency to show armpit stains. So far, so good, but it’s something I’m keeping an eye on.
SUNDAY
Sunday was a relaxed day – we worked around the house for part of the morning, ran errands, and cooked dinner together in the evening. The most exciting part of Sunday was learning we’d won a giveaway from our local ice cream truck: free ice cream delivered right to our door. A little while later we heard the tinkly music, and we rushed out to the street as giddy as children. Sundays can be bittersweet, what with Monday following and all, but I’m so excited for our adventure next weekend that I don’t have time for the Sunday Scaries.

Black Silk Tee* | Sleeveless Shirtdress* | Sand Nubuck Mules [save 20% with code WAYWARD20] | Necklace* | Open Hoop Earrings*
Truth time: I didn’t end up wearing this outfit at all on Sunday, except to try it on. I just didn’t feel great in the outfit and didn’t want to spend the day feeling uncomfortable with how I looked. I changed into a tried-and-true combo of this same silk tee, a pair of ripped jeans, and my trusty Sandys (which I just collected from the cobbler on Friday).
Item Spotlight: Georgia Tee in Silk Crepe, Elizabeth Suzann (no longer available – similar here)
This tee is my first and only Elizabeth Suzann item. The silk is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the way it drapes. This was shipped just before Signature Generation 4 was launched, and ES customer service would have allowed me to swap it for a Gen 4, but I liked that this version was narrower. It took forever to arrive, about ten weeks.
When I received it, I noticed two small pock marks on the back near the neck; I kept it because I’d waited so long, but I wish I had spoken up. After several wears, I also noticed I was repeatedly tugging the shirt in one direction, and upon closer inspection, I found that the shoulder/arm-piece lengths were different. I’d be curious enough to try the Clyde pants on, but right now I’m okay with this being my only ES piece (update: I now am a proud owner of Clydes!).
