The Best Cyber Weekend Deals of 2018: Travel Edition

Alyssa sits on the floor in a room with her laptop and a notebook

Happy Friday, friends! (Or rather, Happy Black Friday!).

Today I’m sharing a curated roundup of travel-friendly items on sale this weekend from retailers all over the web. I know you’re already bombarded with emails (even my very clean email inbox had thirty sales emails in it this morning) and blog posts on the subject, but as always, these posts include items I already own or would purchase.

This post is not sponsored by any of the brands mentioned here but contains affiliate links. Some items in this post may no longer be available, and a similar product is linked.

I will add a disclaimer, though – if purchasing these items won’t add much value to your life, or if their cost would prevent you from caring for your home and health (and yes, the ability to travel), please don’t purchase them. Carefully consider the impact your purchase will have on your life, your wallet, and our planet. I’ve tried to take that into consideration when selecting the following items, but you’ll need to decide what works for you:

THE BEST CYBER SALES FOR 2018

ABLE

Female empowerment darling ABLE is hosting a whopper of a cyber sale from now until Monday, November 26. You can take 30% off all orders, and orders over $49 ship free! Both the Mare Zip Clutch and the Mare Handle Clutch would be great for short trips with limited luggage space – simply pack them in your suitcase with small items like phone chargers or toiletries, and remove those items once you arrive so you can use your chic clutch.

CB2

Out of all of the home goods stores at its level, CB2 is probably my favorite. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness of their designs, combining classic styles, modern takes, and a bit of quirk into one store that in general, is reasonably priced for the quality. Yes, they’re better known for their furniture and kitchen items, but they have some great items for travel as well. Right now, you can take 15% off your order and get free shipping on an order of $29+ (much lower than their usual threshold – and much easier to reach!). A few things worth picking up: the Izola Travel Shave Kit is a nice alternative to plastic disposable razors and the Blackcard Playing Cards would be a fun way to kill time on a long flight. And once you return home, the Cork Globe is a nice way to mark your past (and future!) travels.

Urban Outfitters

Urban Outfitters is holding an awesome BOGO 50% off sale site-wide! With these kinds of sales, I try to buy items that are a similar price point so I can get the best value out of the deal. There are of course lots of clothes and unique home goods available, but there are a few great travel items in stock too. The Aquio Bluetooth Water Bottle Speaker would be great for pool or beach time by providing music and water (or, uh, not water) together in one compact item. The GHD Wanderlust Travel Hair Dryer is dual-voltage, which is great for international travel (just bring an adapter!). And for solo journeys, the ROAR Athena Safety Wearable Device would bring great peace of mind.

W3LL PEOPLE

Clean beauty brand W3LL PEOPLE is offering 25% off all items right now, and it’s a great opportunity to add a few minis to your makeup bag. Though I like to take a minimalist approach to my makeup routine, I really enjoy having a makeup bag that’s packed and ready to go – even if it means I own duplicate products. Using minis in my makeup bag means I pay less out of pocket, and I can use up the full product before it expires. A few great things to grab are the Bio-Correct Multi-Action Concealer Mini, the Bio Brightener Invisible Powder Mini, and the Nudist Lip Butter.

Grana

Hong Kong-based Grana is holding a Black Friday sale with prices marked up to 70% off! This is a great opportunity to pick up travel-friendly garments like a Classic Trench, a Pima Trapeze Dress (it has pockets!), or a Lightweight Parka. Note that the free shipping threshold varies by country, and the sale cannot be combined with store credit or other promo codes.

United by Blue

Here’s an opportunity to give and save: United by Blue is offering a discount of 25% across its website and free shipping, and with each purchase, the company pledges to remove one pound of trash from our waterways. The outdoorsy traveler will love browsing their products, but even a city mouse couldn’t leave empty-handed. The Primus Campfire Cutlery set is ideal for camping, sure, but also for the zero-waste traveler.

The Sunski Dipsea Sunglasses (reviewed here) are stylish and polarized, perfect for combating glare from the water or from steaming pavement. Bandanas are really great for travel as they can serve so many purposes: a marker for your suitcase, a headband on a windy day, extra coverage from the sun around your neck, or (hopefully you won’t need it!) even a sling for your arm in a pinch. The Treeline Bandana is super stylish and made from organic cotton, which is better for the environment, too!

Everlane

Okay, so not actually a money-saving deal, but rather a good-deed opportunity, Everlane is donating $13 to Surfrider for beach clean-up for every order placed. Some travel-related products include the handy Mover Pack, my favorite Modern Loafers, and a snuggly Soft Wool Waffle Beanie for winter.

Etsy

Sure, Etsy is best known for selling custom home and craft items, but I love checking out their travel items too! As Etsy is a marketplace of independent makers, it’s up to them to set the deals. I’ve scoured the list for you and found a few great things (which would all make great gifts!). This Makeup Organizer is well thought out with slots for brushes and a pouch for cosmetics. A Soap Sampler Set would also be a nice gift – no need to lug full-sized bars only to have to toss them by the end of the trip. These Custom City Rings would be a great memento for a past trip or a surprise hint for an upcoming trip.

Hotel Chains

Warwick Hotels is offering up to a 50% discount on stays through March 31, 2019, for members of their loyalty program (free to sign up) at their properties in cities like Seattle, Dallas, London, San Francisco, and Geneva. I just checked prices for our stay in Denver, and if we’d booked the Warwick in Denver, the rate for our stay would have dropped to $289 for three nights (as opposed to the $412 originally quoted).

Select Kimpton hotels are 25% off when you book this weekend, and for each night you stay Kimpton will donate $5 to one of their charity partners. Valid for stays through March 31, 2019, though there are blackout dates.

Flight & Train Deals

Aer Lingus is holding a “Black Flyday” sale with up to $100 off select routes to Dublin and Shannon. Head here to see available flights, which must be completed between January 8-March 22, 2019.

Although it’s only available in select cities, Cathay Pacific is holding a Black Friday sale on some of their routes – both for Premium Economy and Business Class fares.

Norwegian Airlines is offering up to 30% off their already-low fares. We have flown them to Europe several times, and yes, they are a budget carrier, but the prices are quite fair.

AirCanada is offering deals on select flights for Black Friday! Just head to their site, and select your departure city from the drop-down menu to view the deals.

Delta is offering deals on select routes to Europe and Australia next Summer, in case you’re planning your getaway early!

RailEurope is offering up to 37% off select trains if you book over the weekend. Routes are limited.
