Traveling Light: Packing List for a Weekend in Dunwoody, Georgia

I’m excited to share a quick packing list post with you today!

A few weeks ago Michael and I visited Dunwoody, Georgia, for the very first time—and though it was chilly, it was technically the start of spring during our visit. The team at Discover Dunwoody generously hosted our trip, which included a wonderful itinerary packed with lots of shopping, eating, drinking, and nature.

The low-key schedule called for comfort with a pinch of polish. While I probably could have gotten away with two outfits (one per day), I’ve really enjoyed getting dressed the past few months so I added a third.

I’ll admit there’s nothing particularly groundbreaking about this packing list, but I think it can be helpful to see what a real person packs for a trip.

For this getaway, I packed my smallest Away suitcase, the Daily Carry-On. The weather during this trip was inconsistent; the temperatures were in the mid-40s at night, but in the high-60s during the day. This meant relying on two types of jackets: a blazer for the day, and a wool coat for the evening.

Thankfully, Dunwoody is a short drive away, so we had the luxury of leaving our coats in the car when not in use. Like my garments, my color palette for this trip was a mix of seasons: I took the chance to “lighten up” my dark garments by pairing them with light neutrals like cream and almond. And in honor of the first day of spring, I tossed a floral scarf in at the last minute (groundbreaking).

Let’s get to the good part—here is everything I packed for a weekend in Dunwoody, plus a few outfit photos:

ZIPPING IT UP: FINAL THOUGHTS ON PACKING FOR DUNWOODY

This mix-and-match packing list was perfect for an early spring weekend in the Atlanta area. Dunwoody style leans more toward classic suburb than on-trend urban area, and I chose to honor that with these items. With our easygoing plans, I felt perfectly at home at every stop on our itinerary. I’d pack it all again in a heartbeat!
